Fierce clashes between guerrillas and Turkish troops in Avaşîn

Fierce clashes are taking place between the guerrilla forces and the Turkish troops that launched a military operation in the Girê Kartal area of the Avaşîn region.

HPG (People’s Defense Forces) Press Office released a statement providing information about the latest developments in the guerrilla-held Medya Defense Zones in southern Kurdistan (northern Iraq).

According to the statement published on Friday, guerrillas targeted the Turkish army forces that started an operation in the Girê Kartal area of ​​the Avaşîn region in the morning on October 22.

HPG said that fierce clashes are taking place between Turkish troops and guerrilla forces and detailed information will be released later.

From October 19 to October 21, the Stûnê and Kartal areas in the Avaşîn region were bombed by the Turkish army with howitzers. On October 20, the invading Turkish army bombed the Werxelê Resistance Area with explosives.

On October 20, the area of Girê Berbizina in the Xakurkê region was bombed by Turkish fighter jets.

On October 21, the Werxelê, Girê Kartal and Girê Lanet areas in the Avaşîn region were bombed by fighter jets, as well as with howitzers and mortars fired from the Turkish military posts on the border line.

On October 21, the Kafya area in the Garê region was bombed by Turkish fighter jets.

In the evening hours of October 20 and 21, Girê Şehîd Fedakar and Çemço areas in the Zap region were bombed with howitzers and mortars fired from the Turkish military posts on the border line. During the same hours, Turkish helicopters were active in the area.

On October 22, the Girê Lanet area in the Avaşîn region was bombed by Turkish fighter jets.”
