Damascus administration happy with Idlib deal

The Syrian Foreign Ministry has announced that they are happy with the Idlib deal between Russia and Turkey.

According to the Sanaa News Agency, a source from the Foreign Ministry commended the deal regarding the Idlib region.

The source said they “always consider any and all initiatives contributing to the establishment of security and preventing Syrian bloodshed”.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had met in Moscow on Monday, September 17.

HOW WILL TURKEY DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN THEIR OWN GANGS?

Erdoğan and Putin announced that they came to an agreement to form a demilitarized zone separating the government forces and “the opposition” in Idlib.

The buffer zone will be set up by mid-October. Al Nusra and other “radical-inclined” groups will be asked to leave the region.

It is yet unclear how the Turkish state will differentiate between these gangs under their tutelage by mid-October.
