Covid-19: 15,679 infected, 277 dead in Turkey

14,396 tests have been conducted in Turkey on Tuesday, 2,148 being positive. 63 more people have died today.

Turkish Minister of Health Fahrettin Koca announced latest figures of the Coronavirus pandemic in the country after the meeting of the Science Board on Wednesday.

The minister said that the total number of those infected with the virus has risen to 15,679 and the death toll to 277. Of the dead, 79,5 percent are over 60 years of age.

14,396 tests have been conducted in Turkey on Wednesday, 2,148 being positive. 63 more people have died today, bringing the death toll to 277.

According to the latest figures, 106,799 people have been tested in Turkey so far and 15,679 of these have been confirmed infected. 979 are in intensive care and 692 are intubated. 333 of those infected have recovered.

The minister said that 601 healthcare staff have been infected with the virus across the country so far. Those who died of Covid-10 in Turkey today include internal diseases specialist Prof. Cemil Taşçıoğlu from the Çapa Medical Faculty in Istanbul.

The minister also shared information regarding the general situation in the country. According to this, the virus has spread to all 81 cities and deaths have occurred in 39 cities.
