DBP members said that they would be organizing a series of events in order to change Mr. Öcalan’s imprisonment conditions.

Led by DBP co-presidents Kamuran Yüksek and Emine Ayna, DBP Party Assembly members met in Kayapınar Municipality’s Council Meeting Hall and released a declaration after the meeting here. Here, DBP members stated that the process of resolution would not go any further by the HDP committee’s visits to İmralı and the negotiations would only move forward if the negotiating partners were in more equal terms and conditions. Party Assembly members emphasized the need for ensuring Mr. Öcalan’s freedom and decided to intensify their efforts and organize a series of events in order to change Mr. Öcalan’s imprisonment conditions.

DBP  Party Assembly declaration also touched upon the recent developments in Rojava and said that AKP’s discourse on invading Syria is intertwined with Turkey’s policy on Rojava. DBP recalled footage of ISIS gangs receiving aid from Turkey, and stated that AKP is connected with the massacre that took place in Kobanê. DBP stated that the current Turkish military deployment on the border is a result of dangerous AKP policies.

DBP also pointed out that an AKP-MHP coalition would bring Turkey on the brink of civil war and chaos. DBP members ended their statement by saying that PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan should have freer physical conditions and AKP should change its current Rojava policies in order to never have war and conflict in this geography.
