YPG/YPJ fighters continue to advance

YPG said the Assyrian villages located in the area between Mount Kezwan, Alya triangle and banks of Xabur River have been cleansed of gang groups, while the advance of the YPG/YPJ forces continues in the wake of the finalized first stage of the operation.

The operations in the southwest of Serêkaniyê also continue, YPG said, recalling that YPG/YPJ forces had sieged the town of Mebrûka 2 days ago after the liberation of Şara and Til Alea villages.

The gang groups that launched operations to break the siege on Ebû Şexat village yesterday morning were strongly responded and repelled, during which 5 members of the gangs were killed.

YPG went on saying that the gang groups launched a new attack with 2 bomb-laden vehicles on Şara village in the evening hours yesterday, and that both vehicles were destroyed and the attack was repulsed by the YPG/YPJ.

According to the statement, YPG/YPJ forces started an advance from two directions towards the strategically important town of Mebrûka following the break down the gangs suffered.

Following fierce clashes till late hours of the night, the town was completely taken under control of the YPG/YPJ, while mop-up in the area continues.

YPG lastly reported that 4 fighters of the YPG/YPJ who bravely fought in the Operation Commander Rubar Qamishlo lost their lives in the clashes that took place in Mebrûka village and its surroundings.
