The operation to get rid of the terrorist threat to the Cizîrê (Jazireh) Canton of Rojava began on 22 February to the south of Qamişlo. Several villages to the south of Tal Hamis have been liberated. YPG and YPJ fighters spoke to the ANF about the operation.

YPG fighter Aso Kelaşin said the village of Xessan was strategically important as it was on the border with South Kurdistan. He added that they had seized ammunition and weapons from the gangs after liberating the village.

‘We will continue the struggle until there are no gang members left in Kurdistan’

Kelaşin said they would continue their resistance until all ISIS elements had been driven out of Kurdistan. YPJ fighter Botan called on all Kurdish youth to come and join the ranks of the YPG/YPJ. “Today we are both protecting the lands of Kurdistan and fighting the brutal monsters of ISIS.  The Rojava revolution is for humanity. Young people should come and join our struggle.”
