The state-run camp of AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency) sheltering Êzîdîs in Nusaybin district of Mardin has been turned into a military headquarters.

Speaking to ANF following a visit to the area, HDP Batman deputy Ali Atalan said dozens of armored vehicles, anti-riot vehicles and buses carrying special operation teams have entered the camp today. He said the people in the camp were worried over the deployment of troops in their area.

HDP MP for Batman pointed out that he had a phone call with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and provided information about the developments which he described as unacceptable.

Atalan recalled that refugee camps cannot serve military purposes at times of war and crisis in accordance with the concerned convention, adding that the situation in Nusaybin AFAD camp was quite the opposite.

HDP MP said it was a total disaster that the Turkish state used the camp sheltering Êzîdîs as a military area in a war against the people they belong to.
